A bit of humour: One Sunday a student preacher was invited to a church in tobacco country. After his sermon in which he delivered a hellfire and brimstone message against the evils of tobacco, he was approached by the church treasurer. “You should know, this money comes from tobacco,” the man said, as he held out a check. The preacher glanced at the check, then took it, saying, “well, the devil had it long enough.”

Thought for the week:

  1. Never be ashamed to own you have been in the wrong: ‘tis but to say that you are wiser today than you were yesterday. (Jonathan Swift)
  2. If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way. (Francis Gay)

Education corner: We continue our tips on How to strengthen any organization (by the Christophers) Tip #7

Promote spirit of teamwork: Any organization can be crippled when the membership splinters into uncooperative or hostile cliques. But there is always hope! Even one person, by fair-mindedness and objectivity, can bridge the gap between opposing sides. God will bless you if you draw members together into a working team. No matter how diverse their backgrounds, ideas and personal interests, there are usually some common grounds. And for those interested in the truth, discussion is always possible.
